Writing Gold A2
Phrase 1
According to NASA physician Patrick Clinton, physicians found the second major problem in astronauts' mental health condition. Anxiety is produced by being confined in hostile and dark space over a long period of time. Physicians also believe other psychological concerns consist of boredom and loneliness (18).
Phrase 2
Have you ever wondered how astronauts react to interpersonal conflicts when they develop in outer space? When anyone is forced to work in a very isolated place for weeks with another person or even their best friend, conflicts will occur between the two. Space stations generally are very busy workplaces, tight, small, cramped and have almost no privacy. Physicians also believe space exploration, which is very dangerous, is also one of the leading factors of stress aboard a spaceship (18).
Phrase 3
According to Cory Brunish, spending billions of dollars on Mars exploration is a total waste. There a very high probability that we are not going to find anything on Mars that would help improve anything here on Earth. They should allocate those billions of dollars toward "home improvement." If scientists and doctors had extra billions of dollars to spend toward research, think about the progress it would make in medicine. Help cure cancer, AIDS, and other diseases. Also, that money can go toward helping the environment here on Earth by cleaning the air, soil, and water. Fighting homelessness, poverty, unemployment, and nations who lack food supply could also be some of the way that money can be used.
Phrase 4
Jeffrey Kluger stated in Time magazine, a seven month trip in outer-space in a small confined space can be very torturous therefore speed is a very important when going to Mars. Because astronauts are so far away from the Earth's magnetic field, they are more likely to be exposed to radiation in deep space. The level of cosmic energy increases as you go further away from earth. It is not the same as orbiting Earth or going to the moon.
